This is it ! Patient Safety Awareness Week, 2022. I hope everyone is doing SOMETHING to recognize and promote patient safety this week, and that each of your organizations has activities planned to highlight the programs locally.
There's a lot to highlight in regard to diagnostic error:
Start off with the 2 minute video on PSAW from AHRQ's Dr Jeffrey Brady – emphasizing diagnostic error as a leading patient safety concern: https://youtu.be/d-V3QD1x4J0 Dr Brady is the Director of AHRQ's Center for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, and he co-chairs the National Steering Committee for Patient Safety, which released a National Action Plan in 2020, which also emphasized diagnostic safety and quality.
Also just out:
ECRI's "Top 10" list of patient safety concerns, again listing diagnostic error (for the 4th time !)
The SaferDx Checklist – The "Top 10" recommendations to improve diagnostic safety and quality, from Dr Hardeep Singh and colleagues
And don't miss the AHRQ Twitter Chat on Diagnostic Safety- coming up on March 17th at #AHRQchat
