For anyone who missed this year's SIDM2020 Annual Meeting, it is my great pleasure to announce this year's recipient of SIDM's "Mark L Graber" Diagnostic Quality Award:
Dr Carmel Crock of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, AU, presented yesterday at the concluding session.
Carmel has attended every single DEM conference since their inception in 2008 (traveling from Australia !), she created and chaired the first 2 Australian\NZ conferences on diagnostic error, and most recently formed the Australia\New Zealand Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine. Carmel is a role model for advancing diagnostic quality in her own organization, and her passion and advocacy have inspired countless patients, researchers, educators and healthcare leaders throughout Australia\NZ and internationally. You can read more about Carmel in this link to the press release.
Congratulations, Carmel, and thanks for everything you have done to advance our field and help reduce patient harm related to diagnostic error.
